Jan. 1 U.S. Cattle Inventory Dips Slightly to 86.2M Head

The latest Cattle report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service showed there were 86.2 million head of cattle and calves on U.S. farms as of Jan. 1, 2026. This was down slightly from the Jan. 1, 2025, inventory of 86.5 million head. Read more here.
